Have you ever received a belated Christmas gift? Was it worth waiting for?
First of all, I didn't know that my husband was giving me a belated gift. My gift was supposed to arrive in time for Christmas, but the publisher was quite busy, so it arrived after the holidays. Are you curious yet?
It appears my husband had an idea for a special gift for me, but he needed some technical assistance from our youngest daughter. ( She is employed by a large social media firm and provided considerable help to make this happen. It was truly my husband and daughter's work of "love" for me.)
They worked "secretly," gathering ALL of the "The Lavender Bouquet" blogs from when I began writing and publishing to the present. They passed all of this info along to a publisher and presented me with one of the most gorgeous and thoughtful Christmas gifts I have ever received!
When I unwrapped my gift the tears streamed down my cheeks. I was completely awestruck by what laid before me! As I leafed through each volume, the years passed, with my first thought being, "OMG, all of my "labors of LOVE are here, "right before my eyes!"
These books speak for themselves. Each volume contains one year of blogs that I published that particular year. As I browsed each book I reminisced with my husband as I recalled the moments and words that I had written.
I have spent countless hours turning the pages of time. Six years of hours and hours of writing, photographing and publishing, making friends with other bloggers along the way.
I'm not really sure where the years have gone. The books that my husband and daughter prepared for me are prominently displayed on our bookshelf. I may not be a "Literary Award Winner" to the outside world, but the enjoyment and satisfaction that writing has given me thru the years, and the memories and friends I have made along the way will "forever" be a part of who I am today.
CHEERS MY FRIENDS-
Fondly,
Kathleen

This is great, Kathleen! I have complied my blog posts each year with Blog2Print. I love my books.
ReplyDeleteWow Rita!! It's nice to know someone else has done something similar with their work.
DeleteI was so surprised with this special gift! I had no idea there was anything in the "universe" that would enable me to have a tangible book to refer to after all of these years of blogging. I really love them too!
This is such a beautiful gift from your husband and daughter. Now you have all of your posts through the years published so you can enjoy sitting and going back through the years of blogging. It is nice sometimes to be off the computer and be able to put a book in your hand to read. This is amazing. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteHi Kris,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sweet comments. The feeling I get every time I pick up a new volume to read is quite sureal.
