SPECIAL BANANA BREAD RECIPE

Hello TLB friends....today's blog started with over ripe bananas and special memories! Come on over......

I remember the day my husband accepted a job transfer from NY to Ohio. It was a
10 hour drive as we left family and the only town we had lived in behind. It was this chapter in Ohio that all of us grew leaps and bounds. As hard as it was to leave family, we made fast friends with our neighbors, and other families through the community. Many of us were new to Ohio so we gravitated to one another.  Some were locals that had lived in the community most of their lives, but we all came together as we joined the PTO group. Many of us remain friends today! It was during this time frame that our PTO sponsored the sale of this special cookbook where we all submitted our favorite recipes to share.

This cookbook dated 1991, with tattered pages, and broken red spiral rings, holds my family's favorite Banana Bread recipe and so many memories! I never had the pleasure of meeting the lady that submitted the recipe, but I sure am glad that she did!

The "FAN"-TASTIC Favorites of Jonathan Wright Elementary School will always be dear to me.

Here is the famous "Banana Nut Bread" recipe!
Banana Nut Bread

1/2 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. taking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. nuts

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs; beat till smooth. Combine dry ingredients. Add to
creamed mixture, alternating with mashed bananas and nuts. Pour into buttered and
floured loaf pan. Bake in preheated 350*F, oven for 1 hour. Let cool in pan for 15 minutes,
then remove and cool on rack till completely cooled.
